Quiet weekend

It was a quiet weekend. Restful anyway. I didn't leave the house yesterday except for my early morning walk. (Thanks, by the way, to everyone who wrote expressing their support.) My experiments with Modular Knits consisted only of reading the book.

Instead I started a shawl. I'm using some Noro Kureyon that I've had for a while. Basically it's just some alternating squares of knits and purls. I like the rustic, wabi-sabi look. There's no sunshine this morning so the color is only an approximation of the real thing.

It looks great! I'm trying to decide if I'd like it better just the way it is, with the peaks and valleys, or blocked, so you can really see the contrast of the knits and purls.
About the modular knitting: I really loved the mitered squares shawl I did with the manos. It had a complex appearance, but was really quite easy. You're right, too, not having the ends to weave in at the end was really nice!
Can you bring the book to knit night on Thursday? You've peaked my interest!

June gloom. Oregon kind of does it too. And no, not gloom all the time. ;-) Actually, in June, more sunshine than I remember in SoCal.
