I'm lovin' this Tofutsies sock yarn. (Click on the photo to see it a little better. Not perfect but better.) I'm using a free pattern from South West Trading Company. Look for the pattern under Free Patterns. The yarn does have a tendency to split but since I need to keep an eye on what I'm doing with the stitch pattern it's not a big problem.
I really like this color way and the fabric makes me think of haberdasheries. It's hard to see the lace pattern until it's stretched. The fabric has a slightly dry feel to it, more like cotton than wool. I can't detect any shrimp or crab shell, nor does my cat.

Good thing your cat doesn't like the Tofutsies! The criss cross pattern of the sock looks almost like the Midwest Moonlight scarf.
I bought some Tofutsies yesterday at the craft show, and they have so many nice colors. I like the colorway you bought, and I did not expect the yarn to feel as smooth as it does, I did expect a few bumps and lumps, so its a nice surprise. I cant wait to see yours finished up too.
you changed your layout! was that inspired by the new layout thingie on blogger? mine was too, lol.
and since this is a fairly masculine color, are you keeping these for yourself? (guys can too wear lace!)
I went to get the free pattern and the link on the SWTC site must be wrong....
what size needles are you using? I bought some yesterday, but haven't started yet.
Kelly,
I'm using a size 1US.
I hope you find this comment. Since you didn't leave an email address I have no other way of contacting you.
