And there were margaritas

What is this stack of cards and envelopes? It isn't Christmas. So that can only mean one thing. I'm having yet another birthday. I know. I can't believe it myself. Wasn't it just a couple of months ago that I had one?

Thanks to my friend Mendy all the boiz and most of the grrls in my knitting group showed up to celebrate (venerate?) me. I had met up with my friend Mario earlier for happy hour margaritas at Rudy's Mexican Restaurant. Chris brought the fixings for more margaritas. They were excellent! There was a fantastic chocolate mousse cake, with discreetly few candles, and lots of presents and cards. Even some family heirloom Mardi Gras beads (with an R rated medallion). Thanks, Andy. And tulips from Renee and some new dpns and a book (Zen and the Art of Knitting) from Mario. A new indoor/outdoor thermometer from Judy. She remembered that I had wanted one of those, even if I didn't remember. And still to come, several lunch/dinner engagements with Thom, Mendy and Chris. Boy, I hope I didn't leave anyone out.

Obviously I didn't get much knitting done. One round on a new pair of socks, and that one I had to tink. It was great to be there with all those warm-hearted knitting friends and to just relax into the glow.

In case anyone asks, 69 is the new... ummm...48?

Dear Larry,

I was so sorry I had to miss, although since I'm coughing and hacking, you're probably better off that I had to inflict that on someone other than you.

Need to point out, though, that 69 is the new 45.

Happy, happy birthday!

Happy Birthday, Larry! It's great to have friends to celebrate with! My dad turns 70 in a couple of weeks, and they started celebrating already! :o)

Oh, man! Nobody drinks margaritas around here. I'm jealous! I did have some birthday cake today, though. Not mine, but we'll pretend that it was yours. Happy birthday!!

Happy birthday, Larry. I celebrated mine by working at the polls on Tuesday. Yours sounds like more fun.

Glad you had a happy day! I find that they tend to come around all too often. I'll resist the temptation to make any comments about how this is the beginning of your 70th year... If I did, you'd probably remind me that I'm right behind you!

It's always great to start celebrating your birthday in Margaritaville. Happy 39th! (hey, it worked for Jack Benny!). Also, your Tofutsies socks look great.

Many happy returns of the day! With all those Margaritas, maybe no knitting was a good thing.

happy birthday larry! as for the # of candles on your cake, i have a story for you. my mom recently celebrated her 80th birthday, and we went out to eat. they let us bring a cake, and i put only one candle on it. however, it was black, and a tombstone, and it said "over the hill, too many to count!"

she laughed and laughed. my mom had a sense of humor that way (she has a t-shirt that says "made in the usa (a long time ago)")

What good friends you keep. The beads are incredibly beautiful, and this is merely a web photo. What a thoughtful gift.

I can't live without my indoor/outdoor thermometer, I think I'm addicted to looking at it constantly. I am never quite the right temperature... and when it finally hits my favorite temp of 84F every year, I have a little celebration! Whatever.. This is Michigan where it's supposed to be mean-cold tonight after a couple of days at freezing.

Happy happy everything!

Happy belated Birthday!

Margaritas sound like an eminently sensible way to celebrate the event!
